Demographics

The first part of our questionnaire covered basic demographic information – how many people live in your household, what are their ages, how long have you lived in the parish, etc? This allowed us to build up a picture of the population that makes up Parson Drove.

We also wanted to compare the demographics of the Parish Plan and the 2001 National Census. Not only would this tell us what proportion of the village had answered the questionnaire but, by comparing the numbers in each age bracket, we could see if our responses had any bias towards any particular age group. As the Census and Parish Plan age groupings are different, the Census age groups were adjusted (based on the proportions within each one) to match those of the Parish Plan.

The demographic make-up of the parish, according to both our results and the 2001 census, is shown below.
