Parson Drove Parish Council currently has a vacancy for a Parish Councillor, which will be filled by co-option.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is committed, enthusiastic, and interested in local issues to become involved in shaping the future of the parish.
What does a Parish Councillor do?
Parish Councillors work together to:
- Represent the views and interests of the local community
- Help make decisions on local services and facilities
- Comment on planning applications and local developments
- Support projects that improve the parish
No previous experience is required, but candidates should be willing to attend meetings and work as part of a team.
To help you understand the role, we recommend reading “The Good Councillor’s Guide” published by the National Association of Local Councils which provides a helpful introduction to the responsibilities and expectations of the role.
Eligibility:
To be considered, you must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Be registered as a local government elector for the parish; or
- Have lived, worked, or owned property within the parish (or within 3 miles of it) for at least 12 months
You must also be at least 18 years old and a UK or qualifying Commonwealth citizen.
